Hi, I want to ask if somebody know are there any Voip services in Spain. I ask because here in UK they are becoming more and more popular. I use one Voip company (http://www.briing.com) here in UK for making cheap calls to Spain, but I don’t think that they offer calls from Spain to UK. So it will be nice somebody to advise me and suggest some voip companies in Spain.

Just wanted to post a word of warning about Jazztel.

We’ve been with them for just under 3 years and for the first 18 months all was great.
Then about 18 months ago the line speed dropped and I’d assumed it was just because of the home network and using a lot of wireless.
About 2 weeks ago we started having a lot of drops of the ADSL line and we contacted their tech support and I asked for them to look into the line speed also.

Jazztel, like many other ISPs, contract out the ADSL to telefonica - and it turns out that Jazztel have only contracted a 1MB service from telefonica - even though we’ve been paying for a 20MB service all this time. Due to the nature of the contact - they can’t change it until it comes up again for renewal - which basically leaves us scuppered.

If you speak to the Jazztel technical support - you get varying answers depending if the person on the other end of the line can be bothered to do more than a line check. If you’re lucky they’ll dig and see the cap, if you’re not you’ll get the standard “distance from the exchange” response about the speed - if you’re unlucky then they panic and hang up on you.

I’ve just finished a call with telefonica and they can guarantee an ADSL line of 6MB - possibly 10 MB once they check the line - so there are no technical issues with having a faster speed than is currently provided by Jazztel - therefore the “distance from the exchange” statement we received from Jazztel isn’t valid.

Hi all.

I’m moving to Spain in several days and one of the first things I’ll have to do when I get there is to buy a Spanish sim card for my phone (it’s already unlocked so I’d be able to just pop a foreign card in there and it should work straight away).
At the current time I’m not sure how long I’ll be staying in Spain (2 months minimum) so probably don’t need to start looking at long term contracts just yet.
So does anyone have any advice on which sim card (company) I should buy. Pay as you Go is looking likely, and what are the charges? Sms and calls etc., I mostly use sms here in the UK as calls are expensive. As I’ll also be looking to send sms to non-Spanish phones, this is also a consideration.
I heard in general that Spanish mobile phone companies are a bit of a rip-off compared to the UK. E.g.- some even charge you for looking at your balance/credit, eeeek.

Once again, any help, info, advice etc. etc. greatly appreciated, however large or small. Thanks.

Just wanted to let you guys know that Vodafone is having two deals on SIM cards.

The first offer allows customers to pay just 8 cents for calls and text messages anytime to any provider in Spain. The card itself costs 0€ but each month you have to make at least 6€ worth of calls and/or texts combined.

The second offer gives customers free nights and weekend calls to any provider in Spain. Again, the card is free but to the benefits will cost 9,95€ a month.

URL: http://tienda.vodafone.es/tarjetas_sim/

The catch? The offer is online only and ends on August 31. As far as I can see you must have your NIE and an address in Spain.

MODERATED: This is continued from this thread by CB

To some extent this is correct.

However somewhat missleading.

I have my website, that i built myslef, and it is found in Google.

Yes I have to work on it to keep it high up in Google.

These are the results for Google.

http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=british+television+services+spain&meta;=

Results from Yahoo same search terms

http://uk.search.yahoo.com/search?p=british+television+services+spain&fr=yfp-t-501&ei=UTF-8&meta=vc=

It is not that difficult to do.

Therefore you don’t need a top of the range, and I would guess costs more money design company to do it for you.
