I would like to share this experience with the others and make aware of the problem all the people who are looking for an internship in Spain.

I had a really bad experience with an agency called Spain-Internship. I paid nearly 500 euros for the service. The agency was supposed to find me a marketing internship for 4 months in Barcelona. When I came to Barcelona it turned out that the website on which I was supposed to work is closed, and the only task for me to do are translations.

After one month, after work n the evening, I received an EMAIL from the agency that my internship has ben CANCELLED and I am not allowed to go to work the next day. The reason was supposed to be “the disagreement about the salary” (a few days earlier i asked my boss why I am paid less than the other interns). The agency refused to send me more explanations or answer to my emails or calls. They also did not give me back the money that i paid for the service. I did not receive or sign any kind of document with would confirm the end of the internship but I was not allowed to enter the office.

There were no legal basis to break the contract after one month so I will have to go to the court in order to get all the money back, including the grant from the university, which has to be returned if the internship is not finished. I tried to contact my boss, who signed the contract, but he wrote me an email that it was NOT HIS DECISION to fire me and I have to contact the agency (which also does not respond)

I would be grateful if you could share my experience with the others to make other students aware of this.

Thank you

Hi there,
For a side venture of ours, we’re looking for a Wordpress developer to implement our wonderful designer’s designs. It’s not a big job, but if you have other development talents then it could certainly lead to more.

Email the site here at editor at spainexpat dot com, subject line: Wordpress Developer from SpainExpat.com.

Let us know if you have a spare 10 hours and over how long of a time period. Send any examples of other sites you’ve done and either an hourly billing rate or an all inclusive rate for the 10 hours of work (it might be less than that).

You must be located in Spain. It wouldn’t be good for us if we’re sending work out of the country when Spain’s seeing 21% unemployment right?

Thanks!

I am an english woman currently living in the Domincan Republic with my husbnad and three small children.

I speak spanish very well and actually own my own business here in the DR, however as we have decided as a family to move back to the UK and as we are self employed here we can not apply for a spouse visa even though we earn three times the minimum income otherwise required.

So it has been sugessted we travel to an EU country first and Spain is the obvious choice as we are a spanish speaking family and I have to find work (even though financially we will not needed) so as we can then apply for a Family permit to move back to the UK.

As i have three small children and do not need to earn a particular amount, just be employed or self empoyed in Spain, I am looking for suggestions of work i can do that is part-time or on a self employed basis. We will be living off our salaries from the Dominican Republic.

We have not decided on an area just yet, ideally Madrid would be perfect as being near the english consulate would be an advantage, however i realize the south and expat areas would offer me more perhaps.

In a perfect world i would like a job where i could work from home, but I am open to sugestions and advice.

Location: Luton, Bedfordshire
Salary: Grade 7 - £31,331 to £37,382
Hours: Full time
Type: Academic
Contract: Fixed term contract for 24 months initially, with possibility of extension
Closing Date: 03/04/2013 at 12 noon
Interview Date: 17/04/2013
Applications are invited for a new research post to start on 1st April 2013, or as soon thereafter as practical. The post is at post-doctoral level and will involve the development of specialised techniques and tools with two main motivations: completing research tasks as specified in research projects on which Centre for Computer Graphics and Visualisation (CCGV) is currently engaged and developing novel research relevant to the priorities of CCGV to support and broaden the future development of its research activities.

CCGV is currently involved in 5 European projects, having been involved in 29 such projects in recent years. The Centre has active involvement with researchers in more than 20 countries, world-wide, including Stanford, Oxford and Zhejiang Universities, UCL, ETHZ, etc. As a result of recent project successes and with some further internal investment, CCGV is undertaking a significant expansion programme. This post will bring its strength to 8 full-time researchers, with further appointments to be made in the immediate future.

CCGV researchers work closely as a team, sharing tasks within the overall work programme according to their strengths and capabilities. We particularly value the supportive environment provided to the researchers by this approach.

General topics in which we are interested cover Visual Analytics, medical visualisation, visualisation in emerging environments (cloud computing, mobile devices, etc.) and volume graphics. Skills that will be particularly welcome include analytics for text mining, ontology and its visualization and GPU or parallel graphics programming, though graphical expertise in other areas could also be helpful.

Further information about CCGV can be found at http://www.beds.ac.uk/research/irac/ccgv and from this page links can be followed to descriptions of current CCGV projects and recent publications by CCGV.

You may wish to discuss your application with Prof Feng Dong or Prof Gordon Clapworthy by email at feng dot dong at beds dot ac dot uk or gordon dot clapworthy at beds dot ac dot uk, respectively.

Hi Everybody!
I wonder what’s the situation with IT field in Spain in general?
Ok, I know that job situation is pretty bad now in Spain in total, but still, it should be better in a year or two right? Is there any chance for Canadian (read non-EU) citizen to find remotely a job in IT field, QA in particular, and move to Spain with that work visa? Is that in demand? What are the average salaries? What technologies are in use?
I’m trying to google this but not so much info as for now…
