Hello, I am recently arrived resident of Granada and am looking for work. Before moving to Spain I lived in the UK for four years, studying and working. Although English is not my mother tongue, I am fluent in it. I also speak fluent Italian and good French and Spanish. I have experience in working in youth hostels as a receptionist. Good IT skills. I have also worked as an au-pair (including taking care of infants). I would describe myself as reliable, honest, patient and trustworthy.

I would be willing to move to another city in Andalusia.

Hi, I have recently relocated to Southern Spain and am looking for work in Gibraltar. Preferably within Insurance, Pensions or anything admin based.

I have registered with a lot of the agencies and have been checking the local papers etc for vacancies. I know that there are not a great deal of jobs out there and I am not expecting to find a job immediately, however I came here to give it a go and yes it is a big risk but I have decided to gamble and take the chance. I would therefore appreciate any feedback or info from anybody who knows more about the current employment situation in Gib.

Just wanted to ask a few questions and advice on the issue:

1. How long does it normally take to find work here?
2. Does it take a long time for companies to get back and offer you an interview?
3. Are there any tips to improve chances of finding a job here?
4. Are there any ways to apply for jobs NOT via an agency.. There are more agencies than jobs, I would rather apply direct but it seems to be difficult to find details on positions with companies (apart from writing speculative applications)
5. Is it worthwhile doing a telesales job or something based in Spain in the short term whilst looking for work in Gib?

I would appreciate any feedback or advice.

Many thanks in advance.

Good morning!

I was wondering if anyone here happens to work as a translator. If so, are you on your own or working for a company? Did you have to take the state exam, or is that just for the traductores jurados? It’s work that really interests me.

Many thanks in advance for your help!

Hi guys

I am moving to Roquetas de Mar on Thursday (29th Oct) and dont have a job lined up as yet. If anyone has anything going or knows of someone that does, please please let me know! CV can be sent on request but in a nutshell I have experience in Sales, Administration, Animal Care, Waitressing/Bar Work and Reception. Im not a bad singer so entertaining could be an option too and I also dont mind getting my hands dirty and doing a bit of manual labour - anything that is going to help pay the bills! Obviously my english is exceptional being a brit lol. As for Spanish, I did GCSE and A-Level but that was a few years ago now and these things do tend to deteriorate without constant practise. I have been brushing up over the past few weeks and im sure that when I am in Spain, I will improve dramatically, but at the moment I would still say I am at a basic level but can read and understand a lot more than I can speak.

Thanks everyone,
