Hi - This is my first post on the forum.
I’m a UK national with Spanish parents, british husband, and moved to Spain (Toledo capital) some 13 years ago. Together with a partner, we want to start a commercial hydroponics business to produce and sell lettuces. We’ve done a fair bit of market research, successfully set up a hydroponics greenhouse on our own land (we have a hectare at home), and have successfully cultivated 600 lettuces. We’ve also, of course, been in touch with distributors whop are keen to buy from us, and we are in the throws of writing the business plan.
Can anyone advise me if presenting the plan to banks is the right way to go given the current economic climate, and the chances of being accepted? We need a capital investment of some €300,000. Naturally, the financial institutions we approach will require collateral for which we would use our house (valued at approx €750,000). Monthly expenditure would be approx € 10,000, and yearly gross income approx € 275,000.
Thanks.

Hi
I am a early retired due to sickness and would like to start to ease back into working. I suffer from PSTD
and are ready to do some work. 5-10 hours a week.
My wife is a Jazz singer and we would like to get a company going in her name and then she could hire me
for small sound and producer jobs when I am feeling good.
I checked with accountants and have been told that in spain man and wife can not hire each other :O(
I get my pension from Denmark and are allowed to make 14000 euro on top of that, however if start to register myself as a
company I might get trouble with my pension. Since the company is not in Denmark they find it hard to control so they will
tell me that if I can have a company then I should be able to support myself.
I have tried to get my sickness registered in spain, that way I can get under special need disabled employee contract etc.. But they say that I would have to get all my journals etc translated and then apply th e sickness in spain, but there is no guaranty that I will be accepted in spain as disabled. SO do not want to use 1000 s of euros to translate
the long journal to spanish if I am not guaranteed.
So I am stuck, I want to get back slowly to the workforce and I want to be legal, the best way would be for my wife to hire me.

Does anyone know any legal way around this ?

I am a honest guy that wants to do the right thing

Thanks much appreciated :O)

Hey,

I’m self-employed back home (Poland, EU), I am a tour leader. I usually work as a tour leader employed as a self-employed freelancer by Polish travel agencies, who send me to Spain. I would like to move to Spain, and I’m considering closing my company in Poland and opening it in Spain. I sincerely hope this would allow me to live in Spain, which is my main goal.

My question is: what are the costs of self-employment in Spain? In Poland, we pay the equivalent of about 200 € per month (health service, insurance etc), plus 18% of income tax. What does it look like in Spain?

Is it possible to live in Spain but have a company registered in another country? Is it possible to issue Polish invoices in case of a self-employed worker employed by Spanish travel agencies (or companies in general)?

Hi everyone!

We’re looking for English speaking expats who have started up a business (even in this economy!) in Madrid who would like to be interviewed for our online magazine. You might have started from scratch, bought an existing business, opened up a franchise or partnered up.

At the moment, we’re looking for people who have opened up physical shop (not just a one-man dotcom). It might be a restaurant, a dental office, a consultancy, a clothing store or whatever.

We’ll do a face-to-face interview and a photo shoot at the site of your establishment which should only take about an hour. Interviewees should be able to talk about the hurdles they faced with the legendary Spanish bureaucracy in addition to marketing and operations.

Our URL is on the profile or you can leave a comment here and we’ll get in touch with you.

Thanks!
