Have job offer - work visa question

Hi All,

Ive been sorting through all the posts but still can’t find anything quite like my case.
I am a 26 year old female Canadian citizen. I have been backpacking Europe and the UK for 3 months and fell in love with Spain.
While here I went for an interview and was offered a job position.
I knew I had to look into a visa from there and I am well aware of how difficult it is.
I spoke with the Spanish consulate in Canada and was told the employer first needs to apply for a permit in order to be able to hire a non EU citizen.
Upon letting the company know what I was told they set up a meeting with their lawyer who is apparently specialized in the work permits for non EU citizens. He told them that currently the job market is entirely closed for non EU citizens unless supremely qualified and in need. Due to this they didn’t seem to want to proceed and left it at that.
Do you think it’s just because of the hassle? Is there still someway I could get a work visa or student visa or something so that I can take up this job?
Im know if there’s a will there’s a way and am not convinced by not even trying!
It’s the most perfect position and I’ll do whatever it takes to be there.
I’d happily make the attempt to go without a visa however they didn’t seem to even consider this option.
So what are my options?
I know a student visa is easier to get so what are the requirements? Could I take a year long Spanish course or something and work part time? As I do want to learn Spanish of course.
The goal is to be on Mallorca as that’s where the position is.
Please let me kno any thoughts or advice
 Thanks
 Shawna

Requirements for EU girl to marry Spaniard

Hello everyone. I’ve been searching for some post where I could ask my question and just couldn’t find anything similar to my situation.
I’m from Macedonia (Europe) but my country is still not in the EU. My boyfriend lives in Spain and we are thinking about getting married this year and live there. So I’ve been searching for some answers about the process of me going there to get married and get the spanish citizenship. I still haven’t called the Spanish embassy in my country just because I have no idea what it takes to do all of this and I need to get some info and prepare my questions. So now all of this seems like a mission impossible for me. What I want to know, if anyone can tell me is this:
1. What documents do I need so I can go and married in Spain and how long it takes the process? (and the costs for that)
2. When can I get the spanish citizenship? (and again, the costs)
3. Can I work there until I get the citizenship? I’ve read somewhere that getting the citizenship can last to 1 year so I’m afraid of the possibility of going there and not working (staying home) for 1 year.
4. Are there some other things I need to do about moving to Spain? I want everything to be legal and I want to know every step.

Also I’ve been wondering, I know that if I want to go and work in Spain I need a working visa. Is it possible that if I get that visa before I get married I can work there (if i’m not allowed to work till i get the citizenship) without disturbing the process of getting the citizenship? I just don’t wanna sit there, doing nothing and spend my husbands money for one year.

Sorry if this is confusing and hard to read…I tried to make it simple but because I’m lost in this Legal, Official and Bureaucracy Issues in Spain there is no other way.

Thank you in advance.

non lucrative visa - what is the renewal/extension process

I hope this is the right place to ask this question

My wife an I are about to apply for a non lucrative visa. We would like to spend most of each year in spain over the next 3-4 years. Though we will also maintain a residence in Australia - we are retired Australian citizens.

It seems that the non lucrative visa (if we get it) will need to be renewed/extended each year.

I also understand that the renewal/extension must be applied for in Spain

I have not been able to find any information on the renewal/extension process. Can anyone shed some light on this for me.

In particular, how long does it typically take. ?
Does it require as much paper work and the original application.?
Could we travel back to Australia while the renewal is being processed.?

Thanks in advance to anyone that can add to our understanding

Rob

Work permit and citizenship ?

Many thanks to the founders of this website, firstly, it’s been tremendous help!
Here is my situation…. I possess a dual citizenship filipina/canadian and I am currently residing in the UK as a university student. I want to learn spanish and eventually claim my spanish citizenship, through my filipina heritage. This requires me to legally live in spain for 2 years, if I understood the conditions correctly. However, I was also informed that the resdency the officials demand excludes full time studies, therefor, I need to work… Here are my options… I need to complete an internship next year (or eventually) and I was wondering if that could be a possibility. Or I have read about teaching as well; I am a native french speaker and studied in english as well. I have considered as well pursuing, with my partner, the independant business we set up in England; it is a small, independent delivery company. What is the best option? I am confused and considering the actual economic situation, unsure of the best avenue to ensure a valid 2 year residency… Ultimately, I would like to settle down in Madrid…
I Also have an uncle who has obtained his spanish citizenship (after many years!) could that be of any help?
I would greatly appreciate any suggestions or comments,
Thank you,
Karen

Citation of source for SpainExpat’s list of threats to public health?

Hey all.

I’m in the process of applying for a visa to work in Spain. With respect to the medical certification, my doctor’s office got back to me and said that they require the official WHO definition of “threat to public health” before they will be willing to certify that I am not such a threat. Apparently they looked around, but couldn’t find such a definition. So now I’m tasked with finding this information out and providing my doctor’s office with something official.

I can’t find this definition either. The WHO and IHR (2005) documents I’ve found thus far don’t say “And you’re a threat if….” Moreover, they seem to suggest that threats are something that can change based on new diseases, outbreaks, etc. Such a stance makes perfectly good sense to me. Remember SARS and H1N1? Things happen, times change, drug-resistant microbes appear, what is a risk today might not be a risk tomorrow and vice versa. Yet, my doctor insists on a checklist of conditions. Which brings me to the following:

On the SpainExpat visa page, it says:

Original medical certificate typed on doctor’s stationary verifying that the applicant is free from the following quarantine diseases: yellow fever, cholera, and the plague. The certificate must also certify that the applicant is free of drug addictions and mental illness, with a translation into Spanish .

That looks an awful lot like a list. Unfortunately “SpainExpat said so” isn’t likely to cut it. So where exactly did that list come from? And if you can provide me with an official link or citation that I can pass along to my doctor, it would be beyond awesome.

Thanks in advance!!

Job Offer from The School Aranda de Duero

Hello Expats I recently received a job offer from the School Aranda De Duero. I have read the other posts which lend to this possibly being a scam. I was contacted by Mr. Tristi Desi the head of studies at the school from the email address: theschoolsaranda at gmail dot com. I visited the schools website and this email address was not the same as the address listed on the shcools website. In addition to this the school advised me to contact the Immigration Lawyer at :

ATTEY/Arantxa Triguero Hernández
Office address: Ilustre Colegio de Abogados de Málaga, Col. Nº 4210. Spain.
E-mail: arantxatriguero at gmx dot es
Web: http://www.spain-visas.com/spanish-lawyers.php3
Tel: 34-951247285
Skype: arantxatriguero

This is the correspondance I had with her:

Can you please inform me how I am to pay this 205 euro fee? Via money transfer with our below information.

Is it possible for me to pay the fee directly to the consulate of Spain in my country? No, except you apply direct in your country, and if you apply direct in your country it will take you at least 4 months to get a visa/work permit.

Will arrangements be made with the Embassy of Spain in ###### for me to collect the VISA documents and work permits? No.

Can you tell me how it is possible for you to apply for the VISA on my behalf without holding my physical passport document? I was of the impression that VISAS were entered directly into the passport. What we do because of your limited time is to apply on your behalf and notify the visa department that you are expected to start work within a month and we will get you the documents that will enable you book your ticket and come to Spain before you stamp your passport and pick up your work permit.

How long will it take for the documents to be processed? Within a month.

Mr. Desi will contact me on Monday with his Spanish Identification Number and The School’s Tax Information. Both information are not to be provided by you but your employer, kindly fill in the space with NA

Can someone let me know their experience being hired by schools to teach in Spain. I would very much like to know if this offer is valid or not.

ls it Still Possible For People From West Africa To Come And Work In Spain ?

l have heard from a lot of friends from West Africa saying that it is no longer possible to come to Spain to work legally. One reason being the language difference and the strict visa but knowing the forum has availed me the opportunity to ask if there is any way out. ln the US where l live people are still allowed to come. l hope l can get a reasonable answer for this?

Non-EU spouse waiting on residency

Hi to everyone, I’m making some rather early enquiries on behalf of my fiancée. Here is some background info. I’m English, with residency in Spain since 2005. I’m currently in Peru with my (Peruvian) fiancée who also holds US citizenship. We plan to settle in Spain in November, and we’ll be getting married in Gibraltar almost as soon as we arrive. My parents own property, and currently live in Spain, so their address will be our home address.
With a marriage certificate, our Volante de empadronamiento and having attended her first appointment for the Tarjeta de Residencia de Familiar de Cuidadano de la Union, would this satisfy an employer, or can one only start a job once the residency card has been issued? I assume this is both the logical path to my fiancée being allowed to work in Spain, and the quicker option, with regards to work visa applications.
