Looking for an Insurance Broker with….

......some knowledge of what insurance is.

We are trying to sort out Public Liability cover for a Property Management Agency and I am stunned at the lack of Insurance knowledge from Expat Brokers. Also with the problems we are having in making sure that every aspect of our business is also proving difficult, there must be a number of Agencies out there with a severe gap in cover.

If anyone knows of a broker that understands Liability I would be appreciate a tip.

Many Thanks

Dear Expats

Here an article from Laurence Pike, my Partner at Costa Businesses, explaing why many foreigners fail in their new Spanish business ventures. Some sound advice what little pittfalls to avoid:

Planning to start a business in Madrid

Hi, I’m Criss and my family and me are planning to start a cleaning services business in Madrid. I want to ask you some questions about it.
- First, is there a big competition in this sector?
- How are the prices for example for 2 bedrooms, kitchen, bathroom.
- How are the prices for equipment and carpet celaning machines.
- Is it better to start in smaller city, rather than Madrid

I’ll be appreciated to hear you advices. Thanks in advance. Criss

Hi there,
Newbie here so be gentle !

What I am trying to do is as follows - open an ecommerce internet site servicing Spanish (and English) customers but run from the UK as a UK limited company with 2 directors living in France, I think I am going to have to open a spanish business bank account for payments fromt he site to flow into but was wondering how difficult that is to do as a non-resident ?

cheers.

‘SC’ Company in Spain

Are there any fiscal gestors/accountants out there who could explain what an SC company is please.

I have been advised to set up this type of compay as my partner and I will be working for an SL co and the SL co want us to bill them as an SC rather than us both being Autonomo.
(I am guessing that an SC is NOT a limited co, and consequently we can be sued/are liable for any claims against us, whereas the SL - which costs a whole lot more to set up is the same asa LIMITED LIABILITY/UK LTD)... is this correct?

We have been told it would cost about €300 to set up a SC. But do not know about running costs such as Tax, Social Security etc…

PS - We are probably going to need a gestor to do this for us - Mijas/Fuengirola preferred.

Thanks.
