Hi there,

Can anyone give me names of a few furniture stores in Spain? We are moving to Vigo and are trying to decide if we should sell our existing furniture and get new stuff there or just bring our furniture with.

Online stores who deliver will be good too.

Thanks

Online Shopping from Spain… who delivers?

Hey all,
It’s come up several times recently that folks are wondering which online ecommerce retailers are able to ship to Spain (or even better, have operations within Spain). To that ends I wanted to reach out to all of you to ask for your input, whether brief or detailed, so we can put together a comprehensive article with recommendations for different types of products.

Here are a few from the UK:
• Marks & Spencers
• Dorothy Perkins
• Evans
• Laptops Direct
• Amazon UK

And from the US:
• Amazon - not electronics, software and various other exceptions
• Overstock.com - we heard bad things about receiving packages to Spain though

There must be a ton out there, so stick to the biggest and most important e-tailers please.

We’d love to hear about:
• What online retailers are out there?
• Which of them have you used personally or heard first-hand reports about?
• What’s the difference or advantage of ordering from their UK vs US vs Spain portal?
• What’s the shipping premiums paid?
• What are the shipping options normally like?
• What are the restrictions typically encountered (I’m thinking of an Amazon shipping policy vs an Amazon partner’s shipping policy)?
• Any tips and tricks for more success ordering online.

If so, was it a good service? Was the P&P expensive?

Hi,
Does anybody know if there is a Sardana held anywhere near Jalon ? Sardana is when strangers, very often the elderly, get together and dance in ever growing circles.
Also, while I’m here is there a site which list’s fiestas ?

But what if I don’t like French Fries?

Counting down the 4 months until departure. Ready for the white water ride that will be moving to Spain. Mouth watering for the tortillas and Pulpo. But the fries, oh, those ubiquitous, ridiculous patatas. I simply don’t care for them, even in the smallest doses, let alone with every meal. Is there hope? Has anyone ever had any luck substituting arroz, or ensalada?
I did once, but it felt high maintenance and rude, and shan’t do it again. Should I just accept my plate half empty as nothing more than a small price to pay for the luxury of such a place?
Any other nada patatas out there?
Warmly,
Laura
You may think I am crazy

You know what Spanish bread is like eat it the same day or use it for rubble the next. So on my last visit to the UK I visited a car boot sale, and as you do you see something you don’t need but you buy it. Spotting a Morphy Richards Breadman pro on the floor next to the one stall I asked the young lady how much it was to which she replied £5 I examined the machine and it must of been used once, twice at the most.
Being cheeky I said take £3 for it, ok she replied so deal done.
Checking out the supermarkets for the yeast and strong flour (yes I did my research) I headed back to Spain with one bread machine, 30 kilos of strong flour 48p for 1.5kg, boxes and boxes of Hovis yeast and a good assortment of other supplies.
Now I can have good tasty bread whenever I want, it keeps for 3 days as I mix in some virgin olive oil, and there is nothing like sitting on the terrace with an ice cold beer listening to the birds with the aroma of baking bread wafting through the doorway. Plus there is no need for me to go out shopping for a stick of bread.

The bad news
Obviously I don’t fly, so if you do… well its not worth the excess baggage
Bread flour in Spain is expensive

Cheers
