Please tell me, which of the two has both the sunniest and possibly more important, the driest weather around Christmas and New Year, the Alicante or Malaga area???

thanks!!

Malaga!!! We live inland from Malaga and although cooler inland it is almost always sunny.

I lived in Malaga for 8 years and it was always sunny and hot over Christmas, either spent it on the beach or on the patio.

I have been led to belive that the Costa Blanca has a more temperate climate all year round. (Cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter). But I am not an expert ;)
Maybe poll some folks who live that way.

We are near the Costa del sol... It is warm & sunny most of the winter, but cannot say it is dry all the time. (Although last winter there was not much rainfall..).. But when it pours! The roads become rivers and there can even be landslides.
However, this is probably only a few weeks over the whole winter.

No snow where we are, but can be cool when there is white stuff on the mountains inland and the wind blows the cold air down!

We can be outside in shorts at Xmas/winter time, but equally huddled up round a good log fire on the wet and dreary days...

'If I knew what the weather was going to do week to week, I would be a millionaire!'

Chances are tho - it will be a whole lot better than the UK! Guaranteed!
Enjoy :)
