I can highly recommend the small family run bodgea in Rioja - Martinez Bujanda.
CNVE (co-operative) in Rioja is another favourite of mine.
I also rate very highly the 'Vino de la Tierra's' - as some have excellent quality even though they have not been awarded
consejo status.

I love Spanish red wines! I always bring a few bottles of fine Spanish wine for friends when I go home. Thanks for recommendations ))

I think there is no better wine than the Vi?a Tondonia Reserva 2001! I just love it! Thanks for opening this thread! it makes me want to sit on my couch and drink a glass of wine...!

I agree with the Vi?a Tondonia and add Felix Callejo wines from Ribera del Duero.
