Thought this might provoke some debate.

Sorry, can't get the link accepted so I'll just give the url. It's front page on the online edition. Sunday 4.12.11
Woops, there you go. Having said it wouldn't do it, it did!

Mmmm, interesting reading, but nothing we who deal in Spain, did not already know. I agree there are two types of expat, those who embrace the Spanish way of life and those who want their Daily Mail and Heinz beans, go out eating and drinking most nights, they will not stay. Those who live the life the way the Spaniards do will manage and will stay and see out the crisis.

I both embraced the Spanish way of life AND managed to eat Heinz beans on a fairly regular basis when I lived in Spain; it can be done.

Hello to all.

Quite enjoyed that article!

Anyhow, it all boils down to "wherever you go, there you are". There are people who wouldn-t be satisfied ANYWHERE! I have lived in Spain for a VERY long time, I spoke, read and wrote Spanish long efore I got here, and it is true that those who make an attempt to integrate certainly do a lot better. That does not mean you abandon your own identity, not by any means.
But the same people who complain about the U.K. lso complain about everywhere else. Anyone would think they had been born with a silver spoon in their mounths the way they carry on.
Every country has its disadvantages and its advantages.
