Transition from NIE expiring and Tourist Visa beginning?

Hello all,

Here is the situation at hand. Currently I work in Spain as an Auxiliar de Conversaci?n for the Spanish government teaching in an institute. I got my NIE then my TIE when I first arrived, and the expiration date is June 15,2011. After my school year ends and my NIE expires (June 15), i want to travel around Europe for a month starting in July. Hear lies the technicality. Can I legally be in Europe at this point without a NIE? Does my Tourist Visa (90 days) start when my NIE expires? Would I need to get another NIE in order to do this, or does anyone know any loopholes around this? Thank you all for any information regarding this subject.
