I am posting this with the permission of Spainexpat.com to ask for help for The Animal House (Jamaica), an English/Canadian founded and run animal shelter on the north coat of Jamaica. After surviving three hurricanes in one ten-month period (barely, but we did it), much has already been done to recover but we still have two major problems to overcome. The first is to spay our female animals (we have managed to do all the males), and the second is to purchase new kennels to replace the ones that were destroyed in the storms. With regard to the kennels we have already raised half of the money needed and paid it to the importer but now that the kennels have arrived we have to find the remainder to get them released. Until we get them, many of our dogs are living in appallingly overcrowded conditions, some without shelter from the rain. PLEASE help if you can - theanimalhousejamaica.org is our website. Any donation is greatly appreciated.
When we are operating normally we do a great job of rescuing and re-homing the many cruelly abused and callously abandoned animals that are referred to us. We are a no-kill shelter so any animal that isn't adopted has a home for life and at any given time we have about 150 dogs and cats in house (and at the moment one horse). I can be reached at admin@theanimalhousejamaica.org if anyone would like further information.
