Having assisted more U.K. people than I can count (and quite a few from other jurisdictions) in having documents drawn up and notarised in the U.K. (or other jurisdiction), I found it amazing that so many of those U.K. citizens would argue with me that there was no such thing as a notary in the U.K.
And then getting round to explaining to them what the Apostille involved, well, at times I felt I was speaking in Martian. I stopped using the word “Hague” in the same sentence, as I’d get the response, “what has the Hague got to do with us”!
They didn’t like having to pay the notary’s fees either. Quite a few thought it was a FREE service…..
