hi there

I am an american citizen in a relationship with a spaniard. We have been together for two years now but have lived together in london for the past year together. Now, he was hired in madrid and I am currently looking for a job. So my dilemma is this: I would like to stay in Spain past my tourist visa with hopefully a partner visa of some sort. I have searched and searched and am familiar with the pareja de hecho but so confused on what to do, if its beneficial. I would appreciate insight from anyone who has recently gone through this procedure and or anyone that knows up to date information. Hope someone can help! Thank you in advance!!!

The rules vary from region to region, but there is always a residency requirement for registering as pareja de hecho, 1 or 2 years. You could enter on an ordinary tourist visa, but after 90 days you would technically be illegal. Unless you are married, you wouldn’t be eligible for residency from your partner.
