Obtaining a phone before arriving in Spain

Has anyone arranged for a mobile phone to be delivered to the States before leaving for Spain? The accomodations I have made are asking me to call them 3 hours before arrival...WT?....and I won't have a phone. I do plan on acquiring a phone and now would like to do that before arriving.

You could go old school and call them from a pay phone...

Get a phone once you're here though, it's much easier to setup and will be much cheaper than some of those sites that send you one before hand. They can be a rip-off.
