Hi everyone,

I just joined SpainExpats.com and I'm looking for a little inspiration. Do you enjoy telling your "I made the right decision by moving to Barcelona" story? Well, if so, I'd love to hear it. Just like you (while you were still contemplating a move), I'm in the process of planning a departure from "where I am (Munich)" to "where I'd like to be (in JAN 2009)." I'm not really looking for "what to do/where to go/how to find work" advice (not yet anyway), only a good narrative about how your life has been (positively) transformed by moving to Barcelona. Not much to ask, right?

I've been to Barcelona only once before and my gut instinct and I loved it. I'm not really considering any other cities in Spain. I'm an EU citizen (Italian) and an American citizen as well. Maybe I'll visit more often now that Obama's president. I'm a novelist of teen fiction (in my former life) but now I write exclusively for adults. When I'm not book marketing here in Munich, I work as a business-English trainer; perhaps I could do the same in Barcelona.

Enough about me...now it's your turn to share. I hope to hear from you.

Saluti,

Hmm, I feel like there's so much I could say - both about myself and everyone I've met in BCN.

I'll spare the personal details but can tell you that one fellow Canadian started up his own design company in BCN in 2005. Earlier this year he sold it and moved back to Montreal. While he loved Spain the Catalans drove him nuts - also his Canadian girlfriend (that he met in BCN) wasn't integrating well (she spoke zero Espa?ol) wanted them to move back to be closer to family. That said, he made a lot of himself in Barcelona. In fact, I'd venture to say that he only truly became himself, at 32, there in the land of torros and tapas and boxes of Don Sim?n. You can read more about him in Spanorama (http://www.spainexpat.com/spain/spanorama/)

Hi there

Like you I've only been to Barcelona once before, but if I could move there (if my boyfriend was up fir it) I would love it.
Let me know if you end up moving there.
I'm a writer too by the way - am writing a book at the mo for the Young Adult market, so hopefully will get it published.
I am also looking for someone to launch The Sentinella in that region, a free local magazine that goes down a treat on the Costa del Sol, Costa Almeria and Costa Tropical. We're also launching in Torrevieja and Benidorm come January.
