Telef?nica Robbery

Telefonica charges us every month for around 18 months for ADSL line. We never asked for ADSL and a line was never installed. Because we had a direct debit for normal domestic phone line, they kept taking monthly payments off. I went to the shop and they were a complete waste of time, eventually had a meeting with Telefonica REP from Madrid. I told them I just wanted to give my line up and stop payments, it was all too messy and Telefonica didn?t give a hoot about the customer (yours truly). They eventually stopped robbing our bank account but have not refunded the money.

We have had a new place for a year and took over the water electricity, as you do. Guess what? Telefonca started taking payments from our bank again for a line we didn?t want and a line that didn?t function. I got my lawyer to contact them and they agreed to stop robbing us for the second time. Next thing, they charged us 450 euros for an old telephone that they wanted returned. Now we probably won?t get that money back either.

For anybody looking to open a line with Telefonica. Please don?t! Look at any other alternative to these people.

Telefonica are the back bone off spain telphone lines and we have to put up with them but if you have not order ADSL from then and wont refund your money you need to go to the Commission for Communications Regulation in spain "Comisi?n del Mercado de las Telecomunicaciones"
and ask you bank to change you account number aswell
this will stop any DD be taken out you account

and under that Data Protection act your lawyer can told to piss off aswell now as it not in his name . Now there for you

now where i work we have 1,000 telphone lines and we alwas on the phone to them with problems , but the market to open in Jan 09

You do not need to change the current account number: you only have to go to your bank and sign an order to DELETE Telefonica from the list of domiciliaciones: this means that from that monent the bank shall have to refuse any request of payment by Telefonica (you can do it with any other direct bank payment).

Furthermore, pease remember that if you realize that you bank paid something by mistake, you can order them to cancel it and will refund you the money. Usually you can do it within 5 working days from the date of payement. That's why I check my bank account online at least once a week ...

You should be able to do this online in two minutes, if you have internet banking.

I guess that when they changed the accounts of water, electricity, etc your gestor or whoever took care of this, did the same with the phone line. Even changing the name of the line you also get the old contracted stuff on your name, as this case some old phone that was in rental, if you don't give it back they charge for it.

From the first point, 18 months is a lot to pay without looking at your bills. I recommend people to look from time to time what they pay for, and in case there's something wrong call 1004 and ask for a person that speaks english (They assisted there in english, french, arabic).
