My neighbours have just been burgled. They lost a television, handbag and contents including credit cards; plus other stuff. They were both fast asleep upstairs when their home was broken into; and both are light sleepers. They never heard a thing.
The low-life who make their living in this despicable way are now likely having a beer and discussing tonight?s easy pickings. It is easy pickings because sadly we make it easy for them.
To gain entry they simply slide a window open and using a torch they locate keys, handbags, purses and wallets. It is quite easy to hook them out with a fishing rod. If they get the keys they let themselves in, load YOUR car with YOUR stuff, and drive off with the lot.
Always place hookable valuables out of sight; in a drawer, wardrobe: in a room without windows. Anywhere that is inaccessible through a window. Most important of all hide keys; preferably close to where you lie in bed. During the daytime when you are distracted; perhaps on the back patio, lock your door-gate and keep the keys with you. They can empty your home while you’re half asleep sunbathing. An open door is an open invitation. If everyone took these simple precautions such vermin would be out of business. Don?t make it easy for them.
