Thanks for the useful links above everyone, I need to get myself prepared with the popular music for my next visit / long stay this season. Last year all I heard everywhere in Alcudia was Danza Kuduro, mostly Oi Oi, but after that many of his toher songs started on the radio etc. 2 months to go, cannot wait

I think electronica is also quite popular in Spain. Maybe something like this one (Pretty Lights DJ Smith)

The music in Spain is like anywhere else in the world with some local differences. Also you should know that Spain is quite big and different styles are appreciated.
The flamenco thing is more like a clich? than close to the truth.

I think that's quite true although Copla music, which is more modern but quite similar is surprisingly popular in Spain. Most popular with the younger generation, particularly for dancing are Reggaeton or Merengue rhythms. Also, seemingly every Spanish girl I know seems to love Alejandro Sanz!

High, I wanted to know what percentage of people in spain play a musical instrument, or if you don't know the actual percentage, is it your impression that many spaniards play a musical instrument, particularly as compared to anglo speaking countries? Thanks.
