I dunno. We housesit for free, and just ask that our expenses are covered, as it gives us a chance to visit new areas. When we lived in the UK we worked for an agency and they charged £35 a day, that was 6 years ago.

I think that in these times of austerity the real question should not be what should you charge, but what will your clients be happy to pay you. It’s not exactly a niche or in demand service, and i’m sure that there will always be somebody around the corner who will offer the same service cheaper than you can.

I agree with Tumbit.  As they are friends of friends… etc….
They may not be willing to pay much (as they may see it that you are getting a ‘luxury hol’ in return for house/pet sitting).

I was asked by a friend/aquaintance once (when she wanted to book me for 2 weeks), 2 dogs inc, I asked for Eu 10 a day.
Basically, it would have cost her Eu10 per day per dog to put them in kennels, which she didn’t want to do under any circumstances.
But she turned me down as she had had a free house-sitter previously.

Guess it is as the old saying goes - what is it worth to the person.

(I have seen an article in EWN recently for someone offering free house sitting (min 6 weeks), in return for place to live.
The difference is, I don’t need anywhere to live and I would be doing it as a paid service. Which some people don’t want to pay for)

Hope this helps wink
