Does anyone know if it is possible to obtain insurance against subsidence / landslip for a new house please? We have completed purchase of property in Andalucia but cannot find insurance that covers this specifically (and having undergone the pleasure of subsidence twice in the UK, we would like to insure against it). Any suggestions gratefully received.

Try speaking to AJB on 0034 965 796357
or Expat Insurance on 0034 966 771073

They both offer policies written in English and have English-speaking operators.

Many thanks to CaveHomes. I phoned AJB - really helpful, professional, English-speaking brokers. They have given me a quote for a Lloyds-backed policy for home insurance that includes cover for subsidence / landslip (unfortunately there is an excess of the first few thousand of a claim for landslip, but I think that is not surprising).

All new legally built houses here (Costa Blanca) automatically have a builders 10 years guarantee which is organised by the local authority in the town hall via an insurance policy paid for by the builder. I thought this was common throughout Spain (?) Also I would advise anyone that the best insurance for any risk in Spain is with a Spanish based insurance company. Any legitimate claims are dealt with much quicker and easier by the locals!
