Hi, moving to Spain next month and have a question.
If I order Telefonica ADSL and do not want landline telephony on the same connection do I still have to pay the phone subscription? In the UK you still pay BT for landline even if you dont use it.

Pretty sure the answer to your question is yes, because the ADSL service is delivered via a phone line, currently the best rate available is ?41 pm for the ADSL service and ?13.95 for the line rental. They have an offer running at the moment on line at movistar.es which quotes first three months at ?13.45 then 9 months at ?26.90 with line rental at ?13,97 pm.
This is for a 10Mbs service although whether you can actually get the 10Mbs service depends on your location. Best most of us can hope for away from the coast is 3Mbs. The cost is the same.
A word of advice; deal directly with Movistar (Telefonica) they have an English desk and advisers available. Phone number is 1004 from a fixed line or mobile. DO not be tempted to deal with Telfonicainenglish. They are agents for telefonica but have a very poor track record plus they will charge you over ?115 for doing something you can easily do yourself directly.
