You’re going to a very nice place!! afaik at cadaques you can get 3G, get a USB 3G Modem or a 3G mobile phone to connect it to your computer, this is the best solution. Use a spanish prepaid card for this, as roaming rates for data transfers are very high!
the EU told the phone companys to drop there roaming in side the eu so now that have to get us via download
dose any one know what that pay for a mb ? we know the resale to us
I haven’t got any news on dropdown of roaming for data, but i hope this will be soon, as we have many gps riding around europe and they cost a lot for a few bytes :(

Thanks for all the information. Unfortunately, I know nothing about 3G. How do I equip my laptop to do 3G? Is there something that attaches thru USB port? a card? what? Also, where do you get it?
In addition to equipment, do I need an account with a the cell phone company? Or can I just buy a card and activate minutes once I have the 3G equipment installed? How do I do that?
Also, I am unfamiliar with the term afaik. Can you explain?
You have many options, the best is get a 3G Modem, this can be in the format of a USB Dongle or a PCMCIA Card (For notebooks). Be sure this card/usb is unlocked or free to any operator. Next step is get a SIM card, can be prepaid or contract of the country were you’re going to stay, insert sim in device and run software to connect to internet. Check at country for best prices on dataplans, in spain movistar prepaid ask them to activate “Tarifa diaria Internet”, you pay 1€/Day you connect up to 100 mb, only inconvenience you have to pay minimum 10 days (10€).
I am sorry to be so slow picking this up, but I simply have no background in using a cell net for internet connection. I hate to be a pest, but could someone look at this website and tell if this equipment is what you are talking about?
I assume I can’t get what I need in Cadaques. Do you think I can get the equipment, etc in Figueres? Girona? I see there are Vodafone stores in each, but I don’t know if they would have modems in addition to phones, and not speaking Spanish I can’t just call and ask.
I am coming into Barcelona on a Sunday, and assume the relevant stores in Cadaques/Girona/Figueres would be closed. Would relevant stores in Barcelona itself be open?
If you go from barcelona to cadaques you’ll have to take the AP-7 road, at the level of Girona, take the Girona-Sud exit, next to the exit there’s the “Espai Girones”, a big comercial complex where you’ll find Vodafone, Movistar and Orange shops, perhaps the best place as it’s open all week (except sunday). There’s also a shop that sells operator-free phones and modems.
We are leaving on Saturday, and I just wanted to thank you for all your help. We owe you at least a drink. We will try the mall in Girona on Monday. If I get on line, I’ll send you an invitation to stop by if you are in Cadaques in June.
