English News in Spain

Spain Expat's list of English media sources from Spain targetting expatriates living in Spain.

If Spain Expat were to create its own news organization, it would be like The Local. Too much praise?

There’s quite a few English-language expat focused newspapers and news sources out there, so it's a rather competitive space. We've seen dozens of sites and local papers come and go over the past two decades.

Here are the English-language newspapers and news outlets that stand out for us today in 2021.

  • The Local.ES – my favorite by quite a wide margin, The Local has taken the mantle of providing Europe-wide news for English speakers and done it justice. If Spain Expat were to create its own news organization, it would be like The Local. Too much praise?
I like it so much I set up a deal for Spain Expat visitors to get their own premium membership: 50% off the monthly membership price if you sign up from https://www.thelocal.com/membership-offer/ and use promo code SPAINEXPAT50.
  • El Pais in English - Yep, El Pais, one of Spain's premier news organizations, now runs an English-language version of their Spanish newspaper that is oh so much more than just a translation. Very good content, well written. Bravo El Pais!
  • The Olive Press - The Olive Press is Andalucia’s newest full-colour English language newspaper. Featuring quality writing as well as up to date news articles and much more.
  • Barcelona Metropolitan
  • Barcelona Connect Magazine (good classifieds)
  • Sur (Southern Spain)
  • Essential Magazine (Marbella)
  • Majorca Daily Bulletin
  • Euro Weekly News Spain and Portugal
  • Resident Costa Brava can be found at newstands on the Costa Brava and Resident Costa Daurada can be found at newstands on the Costa Daurada
  • Javea News - Local Javea information by local Javea residents for Javea, Costa Blanca
