General Expat Sites

Your best bet is the message boards at either Madrid Man or jeremy's multimadrid."

Spain Expat's list of links to other expatriate- related sites, both general and spain oriented.

For a well-summarized and up-to-date list of general expat links, Expat Expert’s links (http://www.expatexpert.com/links) can’t be beat. The following are the best of the expat sites, most with sections on Spain. If you post questions to the message boards on these sites, they’re likely to go unanswered. Your best bet is the message boards here at Spain Expat Forums, then Madrid Man (http://www.madridman.com) or jeremy’s multimadrid (http://www.multimadrid.com). A recent addition to try: Lucy Peacock’s Spanish forum (http://spain.othercountries.com/forums/forums.asp), Escape Artist (http://www.escapefromamerica.com) An immense maze of links (though many are dead). Or go directly to the Spain section (http://www.escapeartist.com/spain/spain.htm). Escape Artist’s focus is on tax havens. (Laos wouldn’t have been a good choice for Luis Roldán.)

  • EasyExpat A relocation portal with good info on Spain (click on Madrid)
  • Outpost A concise list of good links. Don’t overlook the Worldwide & General section.
  • Expat Exchange Some articles on finding a job, doing business, etc., plus some well-categorized message boards (such as military, retirees)
  • Expat Expert Focuses on “the emotional side of living abroad”.
  • Family Life Abroad Articles and news stories.
  • Expatlink.net A portal for expats to locate and contact old friends around the world.
  • Expat Focus - international living advice, employment overseas, buying property abroad, international insurance and expatriate mortgages
  • TravelersUnite.com - start-up site for travellers with a focus on Asia. Has Forums for questions.

  • USA: American Citizens Abroad and The Association of Americans Overseas are both nonprofit organizations with useful information for overseas Americans.
  • Global Swops - For expats to swap stuff property, cars, houses, land.
  • The Canadian Expat - Magazine for Canadians abroad.
  • Bye Bye Blighty - Information and news for Britons considering a move overseas.
  • www.ExpatWomen.com - A free web site helping all expatriate women from all nationalities in any country in the world, share experiences and advice, find resources for living in a foreign country, with a monthly newsletter featuring the success story, mentor, reader story, book of the month, plus other interesting articles.

i spoke to expat a while ago about setting up a recording studio in the costas
i wondered if anyone had any advice about planning permission for a building and leasing a property to sound proof.
also as you have guessed we are musicians and we are also considering setting up a cover band or even a fleetwood mac tribute band(my wife sings exactly like stevie nicks believe me and i am a drummer) to earn a little extra cash, can anyone tell me who i would speak to or sites and newspapers with classifieds i can check out to find other musicians and possible venues to play at.
we have our house up for sale and are determined to start again in spain.
we spent a week in fuengirola in march trying to check things out and i am sure i want to make the move though!my wife is not so sure.

also
my parents are considering buying a property with a co called atlas who are selling props in spain http://www.atlas.com any advice on these people.
