Hi All,
I am just writing to ask for any opinions/feedback on how YOU have managed to find your way around the system/s
here.  As we all know it is a bit of a shock getting to grips with the ‘difference’ - but obviously we choose/chose to do
it.
I am doing a bit of research for people who might be first timers and how they could possibly fit into the Vida Espanol
with the minimum of fuss (and heartache!).
Our local town hall (Mijas) has a very good foreigners department, and are happy to give information/advice on most
day to day matters.
Do you only use this site, or have you found out ‘How to do it’ from other sources too. Etc

SJ

(My own experience is that whilst there are some good sources of information out there - Eg this site - One only comes to it
when it is sometimes ‘after’ the event.  I have been here 10 years and I think I am still learning as not everything goes
as smoothly as one would wish!).  😉

I found this forum incredibly helpful, as well as a few others, but not only the forums but the friends made through them - PMs that developed into detailed email exchanges and at last into people we actually socialise with now we’ve finally moved!  The experiences of others are tremendously helpful, we’ll undoubtedly find our own mistakes to make now we’re here but whatever we can learn from those of others we are very grateful for.

When it came to househunting, google earth was invaluable.  Planning limited time on viewing trips, it was so helpful to be able to pinpoint places exactly, check out driving time to school, see how minute the pool was, etc etc… the level of detail was incredible, and if you can’t spend as much time out here looking as you’d ideally like to (and who can) then I heartily recommend it.

As for Spanish lessons… they’re on the list I promise!

I moved here with no spanish language ability or any idea of how things would turn out to be honest. Ive been here for three years now and dont want to go back to the UK. Maybe Ive just been lucky but the people hear have been great. I bought a flat here this time last year.
