Another day ? another scam
I have recently responded to 2 Spanish internet ads for cars with what seemed a very good deal ie low mileage and low price etc!
However both times the Spanish (supposedly) owner said he was in the UK but could arrange delivery of the car on a 3 day trial upon receipt of the money.
With the offer of a refund if the car was faulty.
Well maybe some people will do business on this basis but not me.

This indead is a scam, done by Romanian guys.
They have ads on all kinds of websites, also on mobile.de.
I asked information and the owner was a British man, who used to lived in Germany for 2 years and had to return to London for his company.  He wanted to sell his car because it’s right hand driving, ...
Payment and delivery was organised by a company he had a contract with, you had to pay in advance and then had 7 days to accept or refuse the car ...

‘three day trial’?  You do wonder if anyone falling for this almost deserves it…

But it is so relentless.  Before we left the UK in Dec we sold our people carrier by advertising on eBay and Gumtree, and included a mobile number - we are still getting calls most days from people with highly unlikely accents on unknown numbers, insisting they have cash buyers lined up for our vehicle, all we have to do is, etc etc.  Must simply work on the ‘one born every minute’ theory that if they make enough calls /send enough emails, they’ll find the idiots they need…. it is depressing!

It is a sad fact of life whether it be the real thing or the electronic version that you have to be aware of many scams.

The latest one to hit me (albeit annoying rather than life changing) is this:

Murcia airport departures lounge -

500 ml water purchased at Subway = 2.20 euros

500 ml water (better quality)purchased from vending machine at opposite end of departure lounge = 1 euro

Saving for walking a few mts. = 1.20 euro

Bottom line - Spanish airports have caught up with the UK with scam prices.

We had a good one at Alicante airport a couple years ago, on a frantic viewing trip.

We turned up with cabin bags only completely forgetting that I had 2 cans of Masymas lemonade in my handbag - saved for the car and forgotten about - of course they took them off us at security and I was irritated at the waste but only briefly and thought no more about it.

Half an hour later the flight was called and I suddenly thought I’d buy a soft drink to take on -  not pay Ryanair rip off drinks rates - and went to the cafe in the departure lounge.  There at the end of the row of soft drinks were two Masymas branded unchilled cans that looked remarkably familiar, priced up at over 2E each.  I was actually so taken aback at the bloody cheek I fell about laughing!

And yes we still moved to Spain 😊

my friend got burned on this type of scam, he actually saw the sellers and drove the car, paid and was waiting for it to come back from some BS “state inspections, couple hours go buy and he was taking the bus home….. be careful.
