Hi I am new to this forum.  I presently live in Italy and my husband and I are thinking about moving next to Seville.  We are retired and at the present have an ER visa and just go residency in Italy.  Soon I plan on going to the Spanish Embassy to find out if we can move to Spain…anyone with experience on this I appreciate hearing from you…As time goes forward I am sure I will have lots of questions….I think these kind of sites are wonderful…the one for Italy has been invaluable to me…thanks

HI, JILM

I am sure if you ar eu citzen, that to obtain residencia is easy now, all you should have to do is go your local townhall, with you nie number, or dni here both the same ask for the certificatado de residencia, you might have to be on the empadronata for the town hall, thats just to register yourselves at the townhall, then they will issue you residencia certifcate, the cost is usally between 4 euros to 13 sometimes its even free, it all depends where you are ant what townhall your under.  Hope this helps and welcome.

thank you for your prompt reply and help…I want to make one thing clear though I am a US citizen who has been given residency in italy for the next 5 years….what I think this means is that I don’t have to back to the states to re apply for a visa or perssion to live in spain…I think I can do that here…anyway that is what I am trying to find out….

Does anyone know if I can email this kind of question to the Spanish Embassy? thanks

I live in Venice….but will be going to rome next month so I thought i would check with the spanish Embassy there…I don’t think will have a problem either but I like doing things legally…right now we will be willing to commit living in seville for one year…depending on what happens with the economy etc etc etc maybe 2 years…of course the next hurdle will be to fine a furnished apartment there….
