I am an Australian Citizen about to apply for my NIE and Residency… I have been here six months and during this time went to UK to get my passport stamped and I am still legal for like a week or two… but apply for a NIE this week. I got a job with an acredited English school and they are writing up a document saying I have a contract etc and that I am also studying spanish with them. The company just requires me to have a NIE but are happy to keep paying me etc until it arrives is this all I need? Can any one tell me the forms I woud need? So i can print them out and have them ready ASAP. Also for those non Eu people I have found a bank that does not require you to have a NIE to open an account if your having trouble. I am also renting a house with my boyfriend would this make a huge difference in them letting me stay?

Hi jinxie,

I don’t have experience with non-EU citizens so far. Here is the form for the NIE you have to fill in.http://www.mir.es/SGACAVT/modelos/extranjeria/modelos_extranje/ex_14.pdf
Every comunidad autonoma is different, but here is the advice I always give:
Fill in the form and then make a copy of it, also make copies of you passport, take the original with you and make sure you have some passport photos with you, just in case. You will have to go to the Policia Nacional office responsible for your area. In some places, you can do it with an appointment and in other places you will have to go there and queue up, which can take quite a while. The second way to get a NIE is in a Spanish embassy/consulate in your home country, but I seem to remember that it costs extra.

Hope you find it helpful.
