“The Schengen states are countries within Europe who have signed a treaty (in Schengen, Luxembourg) to allow free movement between them. These countries are Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Greece, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Czech Republic, Hungary, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Slovakia & Slovenia. Since there are no internal boundary checks between these countries, it means that they can issue a common visa - known as a Schengen visa - which will allow the holder to visit any or all of the 15 countries.
VISITORS (Schengen Visa)
American Citizens do not need a visa when they travel to most European Countries for business or for personal travel. The stay in the Schengen area should not exceed 90 days in a 6 month period. Please note that the American visitor will need to present a valid American passport (that does not expire before the end of the visit), proof of sufficient funds and a return airline ticket.”
