I am new on this forum and first I would like to apologize, but I can’t speak English very well, I am Hungarian.
We would like to move to Spain to Costa Blanca (Orihuela) and we have two children age of 4. They will be almost 5 when the school-year starts. They speak Hungarian and can’t speak neither English, nor Spanish. I would like to send them to a private bilingual school because I think they must learn English. But I am afraid that it is going to be very hard for them. It’s hard enough to move to another country, learn a foreign language, but two?
Does anyone from here had the same problem? Or does anyone know children from the school of their child who are in the same position?
Which school is the best in the area? (Murcia, Orihuela, Torrevieja?)

We are from the eastern part of Hungary, from Debrecen.
My children can say a few words in English like red, blue, green, orange, horse, cat, dog, etc., but it’s hardly enough to make themselves understood.
I was told that children pick up languages easily, even two in the same time, but I am afraid of separation. They are twins so they can talk to each other, play with each other, they dont’t need to be with other kids. So I would be glad if someone could tell me stories or advices about schooling…

http://www.marazulschool.com/en/  —this is bilingual school in Torrevieja, but I would suggest do a serch in google for more options, there must be more schools (I typed “Torrevieja bilingual school”). Why dont you give your kids to a spanish school only? Or you defintely decided on bilingual? Kids pick up languages with the light speed. After all they will be living in Spain, not UK. Anyway, I would also suggest to talk to your family psychologist to find out about kids?adaptation to new language enviroment. Or, again, surf internet for the matter!

I already know different bilingual schools like Mar Azul, Playa Falmenca, Los Dolces and El Limonar, I’ve already read their website. What I would like to know is how children can adapt to a bilingual school when both of the languages are unknown for them. I would like them to learn English because I think it is much more important to speak English than Spanish. If you travel anywhere in Europe or in the world you can make yourselves understood in English but not everywhere in Spanish. The language of the scientific life is also English, most of the Universities in the world have English speaking courses but not Spanish. And we are not sure to live forever in Spain, so these are the reasons why I am looking for a bilingual school.
I’m looking forward to hear about children who were in the same situation and how they could manage it, how long does it took them to adapt, to learn the languages, doesn’t they mix the languages, etc.

Thanks 😊 but I ‘m sure I have a lot of mistakes and I don’ t know expressions used in everyday life, I’ve learnt the language from books and not from real conversations. I’m not sure whether I use the correct tenses or words, not to mention my terrible accent (fortunatelly you can’t hear me 😊 )
So it would be better for them learning the language from those who really can speak. And it’s said that under the age of 6 they can learn the pronuntiacion well.

yes that need Spanish/english starting school here , In your case here it would be newish , due to the kids coming from spoken english back ground it real spanish that have to master ....  but for you that have to do the 2 ,  Spanish english . think you have to get your extra class out side school ... real have to think hard about moving with out the ground work done ,
