I am an american getting married (hopefully) this summer to a Spaniard.
He is from Barcelona and we plan on getting married there, but we both live in Madrid.
I have some questions:
1. When we turn in the all the paperwork in Barcelona to the registro civil, do we have to bring a witness? Do we have the interview at this time?
2. Am I correct in stating we will be assigned a marriage date?
3. Where is the marriage done? At the registro civil in Barcelona? Can we request it to be somewhere else?
4. We have to bring 2 witnesses to the marriage?
5. To apply for the NIE/resident card- can I now do this in Madrid, or do I have to do it in Barcelona since that is where we are doing the marriage?

Thanks so much for your help!

Thank you for your reply!
A couple clarification Q’s-
1. Do we bring just one witness the day we turn in the paperwork? Or do we bring the witness the day of the interview? Or Both?
2. How long is the wait from when we turn in the paperwork until we have the interview (I ask as we both work in Madrid).
Thanks again!

1. in the day of the interview you bring one witness
2. this I cant say, bcs it varies from area to area, from civil registro to civil registro. In the big cities it can take months. In our case it was only 2 weeks.
