Hi all,  I could really do with some help before I move.  I’m coming along with my daughter and hopefully my cat and am researching places to stay in Madrid.  I have found a website called easypiso which details rooms for rent.  Does anyone know how trustful the site is.  I have had some offers of rooms and have found one which looks ideal at 250 a month but am concerned that maybe this is a little low, ie what hidden extras might there be?

If anyone knows of expats offering rooms I would be most grateful for all the help I can get.  Our ticket is booked on the ferry and there is no going back so it’s full steam ahead from now on.

Cheers

Depends on what you are looking for? Is a room enough for you and your daughter?

Let me know, maybe I can help
cheers

Thanks for the link Jean Paul.

For the moment I’m happy with a room for the two of us.  I’m leaving all my furniture to friends and want to get set up and settled before I commit to a bigger place which is what I’ll want to do eventually.  I’m hoping to secure a teaching job which will enable me to be able to afford a place of our own but funds are limited until then so we are happy to share.

All my daughter wants is to be able to swim after school and from what I can see there aren’t many apartments/houses in my price range offering pools so we have to settle for what we can get.

We are not disheartened though, we are really looking forward to moving to Spain and even though things don’t look brilliant over there with jobs etc, it can’t possibly be as bad as living here in the UK.

Thank you for taking the time to reply to me, it is much appreciated.

Hello Jayne & Rose,

I’ve just moved to Madrid myself and found plenty of good flats of Loquo - It’s the Spanish gumtree - madrid.loquo.com

250 is a bargain. I booked myself into a hostel for three nights to give me time to view all the ones I liked, and moved into my lovely flat for the fourth!

Good luck.

Thanks for the info guys - I’ll look into them all.  Can’t wait to get going now - only one month and we’ll be expatriated!

I may be late, but this is a good site for finding apartments for rent- http://www.idealista.com/pagina/portada

My brother in law, who is from Madrid, picked up a really nice 3 bd using this site. Apparently a lot of locals use it.

Good luck!
