Hi,

We have just dug up the useless plants in our garden (that were here when we moved in) we gave them a year and nothing!

We now have an area around 10 metres long and 1 metre wide, next to the wire fence (2 metres high) surrounding our property….. we have turned the soil and are going to add bags of new soil, as I don’t think that ours is good enough on its own - its very clay-like and full of stones…

We live in the Duqesa area of the Costa del Sol (between Estepona and Gibraltar)

We would like to head to the garden centre on Saturday, but we need help!

Please can anyone advise us on:

1. For the back - Climbing plants - to cover the wire fencing and eventually provide privacy….
2. For the front and inbetween - Colourful plants - including ones that will fill out and cover the area…...

Any help would be appreciated, as plants are not cheap!

Thank you
Emma

May I ask what sort of prices there asking for plants?

As Plants here are very Cheap… (No Pun/Sarky Comment Intended)

My Friend lives in Malaga and his wife bought some plants for the front garden it wasnt until he seen the “Ticket” the wife paid just over 200 Euros… for a few plants (This was 2 weeks ago)...

his Wife thought she spent ?20 The Joys of Plastic Cards!

Hi,

Not sure about costs, but am positive that they are more expensive here than in the UK….. the other problem is that we live in quite a commercial area, so they bump the prices up due to the amount of ex-pats in the area….... we are going to try and find a garden centre away from the main areas…..

We did however buy a lovely Jasmine the other day for 15 euros, about a metre high and bushy, thought that was a good price?

In Commercial Areas they always “Bump Up Prices”
I always go out of town to go somewhere that I know is cheaper!

?15 is a fair price… I do advise to go somewhere else out of town you find it a lot cheaper!.

Hi,

Surely there must be some expats out there with some ideas?
