Hello 😊

After 5 years living and working in Spain, it seems as my contract no longer will be renewed.

I have been looking for other ways of getting my health insurance than through the Spanish system. (Sanitas, Mapfre) Though they are all costly.
I have heard that you can receive medical insurance with(from) your wife but I don’t know if that also includes a girlfriend?

I am hoping that there is some way of getting the seguridad social in that way. (Lived together with my girlfriend 2? years and she has full time work with contract.)

I have been looking at the http://www.seg-social.es/Internet_1/index.htm website, but can’t find anything.

Hope there is someone clever out there 😉

Speaking for the Valencian region (it may vary elsewhere I don’t know) If one member of the household is working in the system and paying in then all members of the household are covered - take your padrons to the INSS offices and apply.

Thanks for the reply Rob.

You say “padrons to the INSS” What exactly does that mean? (Empadronamiento I am guessing?)

Yes I am using the abbreviation/slang for Empadronamiento -

INSS = Social Security offices.

Plus take residencias/passports etc to be on the safe side!
