Hello,

I am an Indian national residing in India and my girlfriend is a Spanish National residing in Spain.

We plan to get married early next year in Spain. It would be a civil wedding. The plan is for me to go to Spain on a tourist visa with the essential documents required to get married there.

The queries that I have are…

1. Is it possible to do what I have just mentioned?

2. If yes, would I need to go back to India before the tourist visa expires and then apply for residency (to live and work there) in Spain from India by approaching the Spanish Embassy in India?

3. If yes, How much time does it take for the residency permit to come through before I can move there?

4. Do I need to have spent a minimum amount of time in Spain to be married there?

5. Would the process be easier if the marriage is registered outside Spain (in India) and then apply for residency in Spain?

Would be grateful if anyone could answer these doubts I have. I am glad to have come across this site where there seems to be so much information for people like me who plan to move to Spain.

Thank you.

Jurdy, I am sorry but I do not understand anything from what you are commenting. Some sentences are impossible to be understood:)

About the marriage stuff just get in touch with your embassy in Spain and with the Registro Civil of the province where your marriage will take place 😊 They will inform you more than any other place. But as far as I know, in case of getting married in India, then you will have to make a little interview with ambassador of Spain. It means you will need to start all paperwork there (residency etc.). If you get married in Spain then you and your girlfriend will have an interview with a judge in Registro civil. Hence its better for you to get all papers you will need from India (In case of getting married in Spain). Because you will need them in Spanish!.. When you go to the Registro Civil, they will guide you 😊

Good luck 😊

You’re welcome 😊 just do not forget to ask about the papers you need. Because it changes according to the province. 😊
