Hi,

We’re moving for several reasons.

My husband is from Barcelona and we lived there for a couple of years, we enjoyed the open, friendly nature of the mediterranean lifestyle.
We’re looking for a bit more of a cosmopolitan feel, more contact with other bilingual/english-speaking families, and most importantly, better weather!!

La Coru?a has got some great things about it, but it’s not for us in the longterm.

My Mum is from “Laxe” galicia… I have to say Galicia is nice etc… but rather boring and can be rather depressing in the winter in fact extremly Depressing!

The Idioma (Language) is Gallego which is basically Portuagese….When you ask them nicely to speak “Spanish” they do for about 3 mins and then revert back into there normal lingo ANNOYING.. as its like catalans… These languages do not help you when you cross borders to other parts of SPAIN!

I can understand EXPATS not living here for very long…

Some expats call it the go back in time zone…

You’re right, Galicia does have some stunning natural scenery etc, but it has historically been a poorer more rural region, hence the go back in time zone! I haven’t heard that expression but I can see why expats use it 😉

I don’t know of any job websites for La Coru?a, my husband works freelance from home. The expats I know here (the few I know are married to Galicians, except one) usually teach English, which is always an option. However if your husband is fluent in spanish he will have a good chance of getting a job I’m sure, however online I am afraid I can’t point you in the right direction.

We will be here for one more school year so if you arrive within the next year I would be happy to meet for a coffee and chat, and be of any help, if I can.
