Hi All,

One of my children begins primary education (6 years old) in September at Mariana Pineda in Benalmadena / Arroyo this year.

They have posted a list of books (some of which are provided by the state) and I am unsure where the best place to get these from is.

Also, what is the process now - all I have been told by the secretaria is that on the 1st of September a notice will be posted on the public board of the school with further information. Is this as simple as it is or should I be doing something else?

You go along to one of the shops that sells stationary/newspapers etc in the town and hand them the list. They cost around 100 Euros and you claim back some of the money from the Junta.

Its usually the shop near to the school that provides them.

If you`ve registered your child with the school then yes a few days before you go along and find out the teach name etc.

I was wondering where you live and if it’s in benalmadena?? I posted for some advice today on moving to benalmadena as my
husband’s parents live there and we are going to as well. I’ve done alot of research and we wouldn’t even be dreaming about
coming over with less than 25,000 in the bank as I’ve heard all kinds of horror stories. Santi gave some info earlier but just wondered if there’s anything you could add. And would you please let me know a little bit more re your school issue as I have 6yr
old twins and a 9 yr old, would be nice to have some insight.

I can answer most as I had a 10 yr old in Spanish state school on the costa del sol for 4yrs.
