Responding to one of my articles in a local newspaper a correspondent says an urbanisation administrator has threatened her friend with legal and tax implications if she continues to rent her apartment to ?tourists.? The poor dear only lets it to elderly friends during July and August for a modest rent, which helps pay the bills.
Apparently she has been ?fingered? by a couple of jealous neighbours who find difficulty in letting their own second homes. Such is life.
It highlights the risks run by those who work ?informally? be they unregistered builders, cab drivers or ?landlords.? It isn?t risk free.
It seems it?s best to be discreet when letting or think of it as a business and do it properly. If those who fingered her are making a bob or two on the side then revenge attacks might be the answer. What?s good for the goose   ?  !

HI Mike

if she rent to friends. how could the neighbours, community, etc… prove that she is actually renting the property?
IF they are friends, there is probably no contract, etc… they probably pay upfront or leave the cash the in apartment.

Not exactly long term tenants, so why not just tell them to P$%& off?
