Hi,
My family is currently residing in New York City, my grandfather (now deceased) was a spanish national born and raised in the Philippines. My father also born and raised in the Philippines never applied for his citizenship until now. He went to the Spanish Consulate in NYC and was given an appointment date to submit all the required documents. It is not until 6 months from now. My question is if he flew to Spain as a tourist can he start his application there instead?
I am hoping someone can help me, I don’t want him going all the way there and not be able to do it.

hi! his residency in US is expiring. he is eligible. documents requested were his parents marraige certificate, his birth certificate, his marriage certificate and his father’s birth certificate from registro civil.
all his uncles and cousins who are in the philippines have their spanish passports already. his sister’s application in the philippines is being processed as we speak and his 5 aunts and uncles and countless cousins are in barcelona, madrid,  and ibiza living and working there. out of the 10 siblings of his father only 3 stayed in the philippines and the rest moved back to spain in the 60’s
