Hi. I am trying to figure out if I should even bother to apply for a student visa. When I was 17 I was arrested and charged with underage alcohol consumption and giving false information to a police officer. I did not know this would still show up on my record, but it was there when i went to pick it up yesterday. Does anyone know how this will affect whether or not I will be issued a student visa for Spain??

smeeby,
when you go to the spanish embassy to apply for a student visa you will be given a list of the requiremens to submit before the application is processed.
you will know then if a negative criminal record is required.

smeeby, I know, at least in many states, you can have an underage drinking citation “expunged” from your record. But you *have to request it.*  I would Google the name of your state, and the terms “underage drinking” and “expunge.”

I’m pretty sure an underage drinking citation would not hurt your chances of getting a student visa… they only care about misdemeanors and felonies… a drinking citation is only slightly worse than a traffic ticket…

but you don’t want that on your record, anyway, so I would definitely look into how to expunge it!!
