Hi there, myself (36) carl (30) bex (14) and james (6) are moving to la herrada, los montesinos in April. We have been told this is a nice place to live and that the schools in montesinos are very good. Does anyone have any opinions on this good or bad?

Hi Jen and Carl, Tezza here (or Terri!) would love to keep in touch as you are right it is very stressful relocating, though hopefully it will be well worth it in the end. I’m most nervous about Lewis (whos 7) having to go to a spanish school but hes really confident and mixes so well that I’m sure he’ll be fine in a few weeks.  We have our house up for sale at the moment so can’t really do anything until thats sorted.  Speak soon.  Terri

I have an apartment in La Herrada, don’t live there but go frequently. I think it’s a nice quiet place and Los Montesinos retains the feel of a typical spanish town and I’d like to think it will stay that way.

Hi, Although now in Fulgencio, I still have an apartment in Montesinos (Parque Norte) since 2004 and can fully recommed the area.  It has some lovely places to eat with my favorite being the Montesinos Retaurante.  It may be a tad expensive in comparison for a spanish resaurant but the welcome and food is good.  There is also an Italian up by the Electo domesticos that I believe one the best pizza in Spain a few years back.  Shopping was a bit basic but is getting much better with choices ets.  Friday afternoon there is a market just off the square, it does mainly tend to be just a few stalls of fruit and veg but it is convenient if like me, you don’t want to go into Torrevieja market.  I do find the locals there very friendly and welcome, both English and native Spanish.  The square seems to be rather lively for a small town and have spent many an evening sat outside with my wife and friends until the early hours!!  Montesinos is also close to Torrevieja but far enough away to be seperated in fact, it’s central to a lot of places which is another bonus.

Hope you all enjoy being in Montesinos.

I read your posting with interest because I went to see a client who lives in Urb. La Herrada, Los Monetesinos last week.

In the normal course of events I attend clients in the office so you often fail to get a feel for the different areas in which they live. However, in this instance my clients re-located to Spain last year and living in a town house in La Herrada they told me that they are very happy and that they would not consider returning to the UK.

Close to the main roundabout at the entrance to the Urbanizaci?n there is a large supermarket and commercial units are being constructed for new businesses. The clients feel that it will eventually become its own self-contained village / town which may well be true. In addition, the development itself continues to expan and communal areas are being completed with recreational facilities in place. Failing that, Los Monetesinos is a very Spanish town and unlike some other places it has a large year round population which I feel is a positive fact. Moreover, if necessary Torrevieja is close by or alternatively you can pick up the motorway within minutes which then takes you to Alicante or south.

I sincerely hope that the move goes well and wish you the very best in Spain.

Hi Jen;
Hope the move went well for you. My partner Gary and I moved over last Friday to la herrada so we are still trying to find our feet and can utterly empathise with you, there is just so much to do, so much to learn.

Then again thats part of the excitement of living the dream I suppose. We moved to Calle Romero, which is just a short stroll to the super valu and the bars there.

Perhaps we could meet up for a drink one evening and share tips and advice.
Best of luck to you all.
Regards,
Brian.

To the last poster - dont know what thats got to do with Los Montesinos - suggest you repost in the Jobs section and you will probably get more response.

Getting back to Los Montesinos - it really is a good area with all of the benefits explained by other posters - we have a builder with ready now houses and as it is a buyers market we will get you a VERY good deal….....
