Hi.

I have just joined and thought to say hello by way of introducing myself.

I have lived in Spain for 11 years and am a concejala in my small village.

I hope I can learn from this site and also help others.

Hi!  Thanks for the introduction….where are you from originally, and how has your experience in Spain been so far?  My wife and I are considering the move and one of our main concerns is WHERE to settle.  Any tips?

Hello,

I am originally from Wales.
I moved here with my late husband when he retired from work.
We chose to live inland and in a village.

We looked for somewhere with shops and good facilities.  Doctor, Bar,hairdressers, bank, etc.  All the things we thought we would need without having to travel by car for basic things.

I had no spanish my husband could speak quite well.  By using the local shops I quickly learnt the language.  I found the people very helpful, warm and friendly, there patience in helping me learn the language and generoucity with their local produce during harvest.

This is my experience and is exactly what we were looking for.  I have found in the Eleven years of living here,  most new comers I meet,  come with dreams,  they have not worked out what it is they are realy looking for.    You need to think long and hard about what you want ,  really want and how you wish to live.  I think you will find it somewhere in Spain as it is such a diverse Country.

Greetings all -

I am in Valencia. Looking for a group of musicians to play music with. I am here with my Spanish partner, who speaks English. I of course am learning Spanish, finding the friends though a little irritated with my inability to talk after 2 months of studying on my own. My partner won’t really speak Spanish with me and prefers English as “our” language, so I don’t get much speaking time, just to myself.

I am getting conflicting information about visas. We could marry of course, but I would prefer to wait. I have been told that for a work permit, pretty much forget it, even with a salaried position the government is denying them. This is from two different attorneys who are English/Spanish attorneys who work with Expats, also saying you need 50k to 100k in the bank before a residence permit will be considered. I know marrying through anything that requires the government is daunting, so I don’t need advice on the long lines and the paperwork, I studied in depth. I am more looking for someone with recent information to either backup or shoot down the advise I am getting, unpaid advice of course.

Anyway, if anyone would like to start a dialogue with me that would be great!!
