Hello:
I just received notice that an immediate family member has passed away and the funeral will be in the United States on this coming Thursday. It is Monday now. My tarjeta de residencia is currently, “in process.” I have only completed the first step, and have not yet been fingerprinted. I have stayed longer then the allowed 90 days for a tourist visa and was told not to leave the country until I have my card. Does anyone know if it is possible to get special permission to leave and come back? Also, is this special permission able to be obtained in a day or two?
