lost uk paper licece…help needed

hey there,
i need some advice i have been living in gran canaria spain for the past 7 years and have recently lost my uk paper driving licence i do have a photocopy of it but don’t know what to do! i have looked on the dvla website and it seems because i am no longer a resident in the uk i can’t get a replacement..can anyone help ❓  . thanks lorraine

You need to get a certificate of entitlement from DVLA (?5 I think) which you can then use to get a spanish licence. As you say, going by the rules you cannot get a replacement UK licence as you do not live there…although anyone with a current UK licence (photocard usually or poss a translated paper one) can still use it in Spain, even with an old UK address until it expires (or is lost!), as long as you have the required spanish driver’s medical certificate.

hey shaggs…thanks for that i will give it a go and of course get the medical certifacate, i will now be able to sleep without worry tonight.
