Heyhey-

Hi from a newbie couple in S.F. bay area (California)..planning a trip to Barcelona and Madrid…we are ready to move back to Europe…after just returning from 4 years in London. I am from an EU country and hubby is American so we wont have a problem re-locating….if Spain ends up being a place we can call home.

Cheers

Hi there,

Good luck with your move to Barcelona or Madrid…. I’m coming across lots of Americans in Spain just recently…
Let me know if there’s anything I can help with.

Sorry for the delay in responding…didnt realize i had a reply. Yea we are planning on a trip to Madrid and Barcelona..sometime around mid-may. There is a rockabilly festival in PINEDA DE MAR and would like to attend it if possible. Just wondering the best source for looking to rent a small apartment or room for out stay. Is there a website or perhaps a local paper (in english) that you would recommend for trying to find a place ?

The other thing thats been nagging me is that you hear a lot of talk that if you dont speak spanish/catalan that you will have a hard time communicating with locals..how true is this ? Will we really have a problem in Barcelona/Madrid ?

Last but not least, hubby and i are both into antique/flea market hunters, are there any good ones you are aware of ?

Sorry for so many Q.‘s

Keri

Hi Keri

Try the Barcelona Connect magazine - if you Google it it should come up tops.

That isnt very true - most of them do speak English in the big cities - you’ll be fine!

Antique and flea markets are probably advertised in that area in the Barcelona Connect mag, which I believe can be viewed online- I don’t live anywhere near there as I’m on the Costa del Sol.

Enjoy your trip!
