What areas are good for retirement with reasonable prices for homes?  We would like to live near mountains like we do in the US right now.

We live on the Costa del Sol (in the moutains, but with sea view) and it suits us down to the ground!
We are rural, so have to get in car to go to anywhere, but can be in village in 10 mins and coast in 20.
Malaga city just 45mins away. (Airport, great city, museums etc).

Re Property Prices… Recession in Spain may last another year I’ve been told.  Many ‘distressed sale’ properites
available at pesent (i.e selling 25 % under bank value).

We currently live at about 7000ft near Park City Utah and like the closeness to the mountains.  However, my wife wants to be able to grow a sizeable vegetable garden in the summer months, I am a road bicyclist and like salt water fishing as well as hiking and other stuff.  Although highly educated, I am also highly proficient with tools and have done most construction jobs on my home here in Wyoming.  We purchased a home built in 1920 here and have completely remodeled it.  Our goal is to downsize and live in a small 3br house etc.  Unfortunately we only have a 90 day growing season where we live and are looking to improve that.  I wouldn’t look at only one year for the global recession to cap out, looks more like three to four years myself.  Wherever we end up we will be renting first and buying later.  We really don’t want to own a vehicle any more but will if need be. We won’t be there until next summer for a look-see.  We have never been to Spain before but are looking seriously.  All I have right now is the internet for research and time on my hands to do it.  Thanks for the input.  Are you American?

I assume we will be looking at the interior according to the BOSS, my wife.  What can anyone recommend regrding a small town—less than 20000 population or village with public transportation to a city within an hour?

I have been stateside a few times, but never to your part of the country.  (Would so love to photog so much your way.. but have put the US on the back burner as we live a very simple life and have little spare for travel expenses).

I hear the North of Spain is great if you like green, mountians etc… Los Picos de Europa etc.

It is such a diverse and beautiful country I am sure you wil find somewhere that suits 😊
