Hi there,

Can anyone point me at any good publications or portals for searching out second hand cars in Spain?  I guess I am looking for the Spanish equivalent of ‘AutoTrader’ in the Uk, where you get a mix of private + dealer offers…  I am sure an equivalent or two must exist and if anyone has any good recommendations I’d love to hear,

Try these.

http://www.segundamano.es/

http://www.coches-usados.net/Espana/

http://www.milanuncios.com/coches-de-segunda-mano/

http://www.coches123.es/

Put in your region and search Coches.

As far as I know there is no Autotrader of that name in Spain, but the name is used by various peeps.

There are publications in most petrol stations with free ads similar to autotrader.

best deals are usually found on the side of the road.

Thanks Santi that’s great!

Appear to be better deals online than at the side of our road, which is in rip-off expat coastal area.  Very good to see what’s available a couple of hrs drive away to compare,

Yes Santi is spot on - the car sites are excellent - very easy to see whats available and compare prices which do vary across regions. They also offer all sorts of sort and list functions, and some give valuations - all in all a good service and cheap to advertise on as well. Be aware some of the ads are dealers - not that that is always a bad thing.

Anybody any experience of haggling with Spanish car dealers? If a car’s up for 5000 euros for example, what would be a general starting point for negotiation? Or is the price you see the price you pay? Never done this sort of thing in Spain!

It’s always worth a try but probably depends on many things like are you trading in, how long he has had the car, how desperate he is….........but give it a go - but be prepared to walk away its a buyers market - make sure you know what the price includes sometimes dealers dont include the transfer fees and sometimes they do!
