Hi

Can anyone help me with a question regarding marriage to an EU citizen?  Im EU (British), my husband to be is non-EU and we’re considering a move to Spain.  Ive read that his residency is no problem being married to me, but that he must produce a marriage certificate issued by an EU country.  What is the position if we marry outside the EU?  Has anyone had any experience of this?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx.

Thanx Rob will check out that link.

My husband to be (not married yet) is South African and we’re currently in Netherlands Antilles (Northern Caribbean), which yes, he has to have visas to live and work here.  (Being S African he has to have a visa to go practically anywhere).  We’re expecting our first child later this year who’ll be born in French West Indies so we’ll be British, French and S African, wanting to move back to EU, preferably Majorca.  Don’t do things by halves do I huh??  :ohh:

Thanx both xx

janesxm,
when you get married, you have to consult either the spanish or british consulate where he legally lives.
try to meet the requirements for him to get a residence visa either to spain or uk.
i would suggest you get him a uk visa first and when you get to the uk get him a british residence permit.
once he has that, all of you can move to spain and he can have a spanish residence permit without having to apply for a visa for spain.
