Hello All

I am a young future student of the University of Barcelona and about to make one of the biggest steps in my life by leaving my home country and embarking upon a new life and education. I admit to being nervous about cultural shock, and fitting into a new time zone. I have heard alot of good and bad about bcn and hope that someone more experienced can help me clear these thing up. I will most likely be placing posts everywhere in a hope to gain more knowledge. One of the biggest things is my Catalan it is worse than horrible and I was wondering if anyone knew of something I could do while I’m in my home country to prepare. Also I want to
live close to the UB but am not sure what the best areas. Thank you all so much in advance, for your help and kindness.

Hi,
I just moved to Barcelona (got here yesterday).
I will be taking classes at UB as well and believe me, I understand the way you are/were feeling, because I am feeling the exact same way.
I can speak both english and spanish (spanish is my mother tongue) and I would like to make friends.
I am 25 years old, have experience living abroad (lived for over 2 years in the US) and love languages.
Have a nice evening and hope to hear from you soon,
Marcela.

Hello it is nice to hear from you

I will be moving to Barcelona in July of 2011, right now I’m preparing all of my documentation and previous marks. When I come I will be happy to hang out with you for a while as I have friends in BCN already. How are you liking UB? My friend in Spain was treated rudely by their staff but she says the students and libraries are wonderful. I will look forward to hearing from you again. Have a great day.
