We are currently living in the costa del sol and have been here for over 1 year. The house we are in is rented and is the 3rd house we have rented. The 1st 2 houses were just a disaster. Don’t want to move again as love the house we are in, it’s great for our 2 children! Anyway the rental company we are with are pretty much useless everytime something breaks and needs repairing we tell them and we get the usual i’ll give so and so a call then get back to you! They never do and it can take weeks to get anything sorted. I know it’s slow to get anything done in spain but is that the norm for english run companies to be so slack on getting anything done? It drives me mad!!!! :ahhh: At the moment we are waiting for one of our shutters to be fixed and again no one’s got back to us surprise surprise! I get fed up with calling them to ask whats going on for nothing to be done. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice on what to do??? (Both the rental companies we have been with are in a sense very unprofessional, is that norm over here?) Be grateful for any feedback or advice 😊

I’m not too sure about whether it’s the norm but I have heard one or two similar here in the Costa Blanca.  Take a look to see what is stated on repairs in your tenancy agreement.  More often than not they cover the landlord is liable for general repairs but not normally on the length of time to repair.  Maybe see if you can come up with an agreement of having it fixed yourself and deduct the cost from your monthly rental payment.
From another pompey fan in spain!!

Hello there:

I would have to agree with the last persons comments. I agree with you on that type of rental service. I recently moved to the UK 6 months ago from California where I owned my own what we call property management business. Tenants came first because without them the investors couldn’t make any money. I have found in the UK that service to be severely poor. I do not understand that concept from the Estate Agents at all. Good friendly service to tenants and keeping up the repairs makes for happy long term tenants. Have I got that wrong?

I honestly do not like the weather in the UK and I am looking to move to Spain where there is actual sunshine. This field however is my niche. If I knew what was in your rental agreement i would be very happy to help you in any way that I can. no catch just trying to help as this appears to be a very big problem all over. You are welcome to e-mail me at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)

Just explain what is in your rental agreement and i will try to assist you on how to go about dealing with your issue.

I look forward to hearing from you.
